About
Who is behind ExamStep
ExamStep is an independent English-exam practice platform operated from Ontario, Canada. It exists for one reason: the hardest part of preparing for a test like CELPIP or TOEFL is not finding questions, it is finding out honestly how you would have been marked — before test day, and in enough detail to fix something.
Every practice test on the site runs under the real exam's timing, task types and on-screen layout. Reading and Listening are checked against answer keys. Writing and Speaking are assessed against the criteria the exam itself publishes and reported on that exam's own scale — a CLB level for CELPIP, a band for TOEFL — together with the specific sentences that held the score down.
All questions and practice material on ExamStep are written by ExamStep. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or approved by Paragon Testing Enterprises, Educational Testing Service, or the official CELPIP® and TOEFL® tests, and we say so on every page.
What we do not claim
- No guaranteed score. A practice mark is an estimate made on the official criteria; the real exam is marked by the test provider, and only their result counts.
- No official concordance. Where the site shows an equivalent across exam scales, it is approximate and labelled as such.
- No fabricated proof. Counts on the site come from the live catalogue, example reports are labelled as examples, and there are no testimonials until there are real ones to show.
