CELPIP-LS Practice Tests for Canadian Citizenship
Full CELPIP-General LS mock tests — Listening and Speaking, the two skills IRCC checks for citizenship — timed like the real test and reported as a CLB level for each skill. The aim is not just CLB 4 but safely above it, in both skills.

What a full CELPIP-LS practice test includes
Each mock is the whole LS test: the Listening parts and the eight Speaking tasks, in the order and on the clock of the real CELPIP-General LS. Single-skill Listening and Speaking practice tests let you work on the weaker skill on its own.
How it is scored
Listening is scored automatically. Speaking is marked on the official CELPIP criteria and returned as a CLB level with feedback on each task. IRCC looks at each skill on its own, so the report shows both.
Why timed practice matters
Speaking is 8 tasks in 15 minutes, so every answer is short and on the clock — and nerves cost more on a clock than English does. Rehearsing on the real timing is how you make sure a nervous day still lands safely above CLB 4.
How to use full tests in your prep
Sit one mock to see where each skill stands against CLB 4. Put your time into the lower skill with single-skill practice, then sit another mock close to your test date to confirm both are comfortably above the line.
Frequently asked questions
What level do I need for citizenship?
CLB 4 or higher in speaking and in listening, if you are 18 to 54 on the day you sign your application. On CELPIP that is a level 4 or higher in both skills.
What is the CELPIP-General LS test?
The Listening and Speaking parts of CELPIP-General, taken on their own for citizenship. Paragon, which runs CELPIP, puts it at about 1 hour 10 minutes: Listening is 38 questions in 46 to 55 minutes, and Speaking is 8 tasks in 15 minutes.
Do I even need a language test?
Not always. IRCC also accepts proof of secondary or post-secondary education in English or French, some government-funded language training certificates at CLB 4 or higher, and test results you already sent with your permanent residence application. Our checker walks through it with IRCC's own wording.
Is this the official CELPIP test?
No. These are practice tests written for ExamStep in the CELPIP-General LS format. CELPIP is a trademark of Paragon Testing Enterprises; ExamStep is not affiliated with Paragon or with IRCC. Only Paragon issues CELPIP scores.
