Each test is 20 questions drawn across the ten examinable chapters of Discover Canada, in the same mix of multiple choice and true/false the real test uses. Between tests you can work through a chapter at a time, untimed, with an explanation on every question.
How it is scored
Marked the instant you finish: your raw score out of 20, pass or fail against the real 15-question threshold, and a breakdown showing which chapters cost you marks so you know what to read next. There is no band and no level — the real test reports a pass or a fail, and so does this one.
Why timed practice matters
45 minutes for 20 questions is not tight, and the clock is not the difficulty. What catches people is the real test's own rule that you cannot go back: once you answer, the question is gone. Our simulator behaves the same way, because a practice test that lets you revise is not practising the thing you will actually do.
How to use full tests in your prep
Read a chapter of the official guide, drill that chapter here until the explanations stop telling you anything new, then sit a full 20-question test. Repeat for the chapters your results flag. Most people who fail have read the guide once and never answered a question under a clock.

How many questions is the Canadian citizenship test, and what is the pass mark?
20 questions in 45 minutes, and you need 15 correct to pass. The questions are multiple choice and true/false, and you can take the test in English or French. IRCC raised the time limit from 30 to 45 minutes on 9 March 2026.
How many times can I take the real test?
Three. Since 9 March 2026 applicants get three attempts before the file goes to a knowledge hearing with a citizenship officer; it used to be two. Most people are invited to sit it online, from home, with 30 days to do so.
Are these the real test questions?
No, and nobody's are. IRCC does not publish its question bank, so any site claiming to have the real questions is not telling you the truth. Every question here is written by ExamStep from the facts in the official study guide, and each one names the chapter it came from so you can check it.
Is this practice test free?

Do I also need an English or French test?
If you are 18 to 54 when you apply, yes. You must show CLB 4 or higher in speaking and listening, which is a separate exam from the knowledge test — CELPIP-General LS is the one built for it. The knowledge test itself does not assess your language.
