What a full TOEFL practice test includes
A full test here has the four sections of the 2026 test in the real order, with every task type ETS lists: Complete the Words, Read in Daily Life and Read an Academic Passage in Reading; Listen and Choose a Response, a conversation, an announcement and an academic talk in Listening; Build a Sentence, Write an Email and Write for an Academic Discussion in Writing; Listen and Repeat and Take an Interview in Speaking. For the real test, ETS gives about 30 minutes for Reading (50 items), 29 for Listening (47), 23 for Writing (12) and 8 for Speaking (11), and asks you to allow about two hours with the directions (ETS, TOEFL iBT Test Content, checked 2026-09-27). Our full tests run a little under that base time and have fewer Reading and Listening items, because Reading and Listening run both of their modules in order rather than routing between an easier and a harder second one: the practice tests they are built from supply only the harder branch, and inventing an easier one would mean writing items nobody authored.
How it is scored
Reading and Listening are marked the moment you finish, weighted by item difficulty so a harder module counts for what it is. Writing and Speaking are scored out of five, the scale of ETS's published scoring guides, and our feedback breaks each response into four parts of our own — task fulfilment, development, range of language and accuracy.
Why timed practice matters
The 2026 test is short and dense: about ninety minutes, with no section you can drift through. Reading gives you free movement inside the section; Listening plays each recording once, refuses to let you skip a question, and never lets you go back. Sitting a complete test under those rules is the only way to find out whether your pacing survives them.
How to use full tests in your prep
Sit one full test early to see which of the four sections is actually holding your band down — it is rarely the one candidates expect. Work on that section with the single-skill practice tests, then sit another full test close to your exam date to confirm the pacing.

This is a sample: the numbers are made up to show the layout, not taken from a real learner.

Is there a free complete TOEFL iBT practice test in the 2026 format?
Yes. Your free account includes one full mock exam with every section scored, including Writing and Speaking; the detailed Writing and Speaking feedback comes with a pass. It runs Reading, Listening, Writing and Speaking in the 2026 order with every 2026 task type, with fewer Reading and Listening items than ETS's 120, and reports on the 1–6 band scale ETS has used since 21 January 2026. You need a free account to sit it, and no card.
Is this the new 2026 TOEFL format?
Yes. The test changed on 21 January 2026: the integrated tasks and the independent essay are gone, and the 1–6 band scale replaced 0–120 as the main score (for two years after January 2026, ETS also reports a comparable 0–120 overall score). These tests follow the published 2026 specification — the new task types, four sections in the order Reading, Listening, Writing, Speaking, and scores reported on the 1–6 band scale. ETS lists 120 items on the real test; a full test here has fewer, which makes it a shorter sitting of the same paper, not a different one.
Are Reading and Listening adaptive here?
On the real test, yes: everyone sits the same first module and their answers decide whether the second leans easier or harder. These tests are not, and the reason is the source. The practice tests they are built from state that their second module is the harder branch — the one a strong candidate is routed to — and contain no easier one. So you sit both modules in order, at the level a high band actually requires. Everything else about the sections is unchanged: the task types, the clock, and the fact that in Listening you cannot go back.
How is the band worked out?
The 1–6 half-band scale, its CEFR alignment and the rule that the overall is the mean of the four sections rounded to the nearest half band are all ETS's. Turning a raw score into a band is our estimate: ETS equates scores against a calibrated item pool and publishes no conversion table. Your raw score is the fact; treat the band as a guide.
How long does a full practice test take?
A little under an hour and a half of timed sections, plus the direction screens between them. For the real test ETS gives about 90 minutes of base time and asks you to allow about two hours with the directions (ETS, checked 2026-09-27), so a full test here is close to the real sitting.
Are these real TOEFL questions?
No, and they never will be. Every passage, recording, prompt and question here is written by ExamStep. The format, the timing and the on-screen behaviour are reproduced from the published specification and the official practice interface; the content is our own.
