How do I register and pay in Turkey?

1. Register online through an ETS account, or by phone using the contact details ETS lists for your country.
2. Enter your first and last name and your date of birth exactly as they appear on the ID you will bring. If they do not match, ETS says you will not be able to take the test and the fee will not be refunded.
3. Pay with a method ETS accepts for the way you register. Through an ETS account: Credit/debit card, electronic check (e-check), PayPal or Alipay. By phone: Credit/debit card or electronic check (e-check). By mail: Credit/debit card.
4. To cancel or reschedule, use your ETS account. ETS lists rescheduling at US$69, and express registration (within 7 days of the test date) at US$49.

Which ID do I need in Turkey?

ETS says ID requirements depend on where you test and on your citizenship, and it lists them country by country on its ID page, so read the Turkey entry there before you book. The general rules it sets for every country:

• an original document: photocopies are not accepted;
• a physical ID: a digital ID on a phone is not accepted, except in the Republic of Korea, where some digital IDs are permitted;
• government-issued and valid: expired documents are not accepted;
• your full name and date of birth exactly as you registered them, excluding accents;
• a recent, recognizable photograph and your signature.

What is the TOEFL iBT score scale, and when do scores arrive?

From 21 January 2026 ETS reports each section and the overall on a 1–6 scale in steps of 0.5. The overall score is the average of the four section scores, rounded to the nearest half band. ETS aligns the bands with the CEFR like this:

ETS says scores are available in your ETS account 3 days after your test date, with the PDF report ready 24-48 hours after that, and that they stay valid for 2 years. It also says to allow approximately two hours for the test, and that as the test adapts, test time and items may vary. Our score-scale guide explains the rest of the scale.

What does IELTS cost in Turkey, for comparison?

IELTS has no single worldwide price: each test provider publishes its own, in local currency, and it can differ from one provider to another. These are the standard fees each provider’s own page listed on the date shown, for a sitting at a test centre on computer:

• British Council Turkey: TRY 12,000. Source (plain text): https://www.britishcouncil.org.tr/en/exam/ielts/which-test/academic, checked 11 October 2026.
• IDP IELTS Turkey: TRY 12,210. Source (plain text): https://ielts.idp.com/turkey/test-dates/en-gb, checked 11 October 2026.

IELTS is delivered in Turkey by more than one provider and they publish different prices: IDP TL 12,210; British Council 12000 TRY on its IELTS Academic page.

The fee lines we read do not mention tax, so we state no tax rule. Fees change: read the provider’s own page for the date you book.
